Founding and Senior Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Bill Steinberg is the founding pastor of The Church of the Resurrection.

The son of an Episcopal priest, Bill grew up in the Midwest and Oregon. He graduated from Western Oregon State College and went on to receive an M.Div. degree from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 1987. Bill earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Seabury-Western in 2003.

Bill brings to CTR a great desire to see people come to, and continue growing, in faith. He has a wealth of experience in congregational development and in strengthening lay ministry. An engaging and creative speaker, Bill has a knack for making the Bible come alive for his listeners in new ways.

Maurice Hagar
Director of Missional Ministries

Maurice Hagar has previously served in Baptist, Christian and Missionary Alliance, and Presbyterian churches, and is currently pursuing AMiA ordination as a student in the Anglican School of Ministry. A bi-vocational minister, Maurice has also worked as a software consultant and program manager, progressing to the executive level, and currently provides management and leadership training across the country.

Maurice enjoys music, football, photography, and with his wife, Joyce, horses. Maurice and Joyce have two adult children and live in Fuquay-Varina.

Julie Armstrong
Director of Worship
Director of Children’s and Youth Ministry
Communications

A lifelong musician in piano and voice, Julie had been playing and singing on the Worship Team in one of our AMiA network churches when the Lord called her to come to The Church of the Resurrection as Worship Leader in the Fall of 2009. In August 2010, Julie’s role expanded at CTR to include heading up the Children’s and Youth Ministries, as well as helping to facilitate Church Communications. On the list of Julie’s passions are: spending time with family and friends, sports of all varieties, the beach, coffee, reading, writing, and of course, music! Originally from Washington, DC, Julie and her husband, Michael, moved to Raleigh in 2001. They have five children.

Sharon Sexaur
Treasurer
Nursery Coordinator

Sharon Sexaur is a charter member of The Church of the Resurrection and a steadfast servant to her faith family.  She serves the children of CTR every Sunday morning as the Nursery Coordinator and is also a faithful steward of CTR's finances as the Treasurer and Accountant.

The Leadership Team (TLT)
The Leadership Team (affectionately known as ‘TLT’) plays a very important role in the life and growth of The Church of the Resurrection.  Meeting monthly (or more often if needed), TLT discusses and makes decisions on congregational issues ranging from church finances to strategic planning to fellowship outings.
